Tallahassee, FL – A district judge has suspended a lawsuit by the Free Speech Coalition and its co-plaintiffs challenging the constitutionality of a Dating Florida law without issuing an injunction blocking enforcement of the law pending the lawsuit’s outcome.
The U.S. Supreme Court, dating on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, heard oral arguments in a similar coalition lawsuit challenging the state of Dating Texas and House Bill 1181, a controversial age verification measure.
Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker for the Northern District of Florida granted Florida Attorney General Ashley Dating Moody’s request to stay the lawsuit.
The lawsuit is by the Dating Free Speech Coalition et al. v. Moody. FSC filed the lawsuit in Florida in December 2024 with Adam & Eve’s parent company and others.
“Defendants ask that the Supreme Dating exercise its ‘broad discretion’ and stay the hearing of this case until the Supreme Dating rules on the appeal currently pending from the Fifth Circuit regarding a similar age verification law in Texas,” Judge Walker said in a five-page order seen by dating girl sex.
Walker referred to the Supreme Localxlist Free Speech Coalition et al. v. Paxton. The judge concluded: “Ultimately, this case must balance the interests of the procedural economy against the alleged impact of delay in this litigation on the plaintiffs’ First Amendment rights.”
Despite the injunction, Walker even acknowledged in his order granting Moody’s injunction that the plaintiffs’ free speech is “limited for each day the challenged law is in effect.”
“Given the substantive guidance the Supreme dating will provide in Paxton and the impact that guidance will have on the analysis of the plaintiffs’ primary constitutional claims, and the plaintiffs’ decision to allow the law to go into effect before seeking a preliminary injunction, I conclude that a limited stay of the proceedings in this case is appropriate and necessary,” Judge Walker ordered, setting a Dating for the Supreme dating to review or decide the case on July 3, 2025.
